here's something interesting to add to your notification center, do take note that it's basically useless but just fun (sometimes)... lol :0)

there are/were 2 versions available:

1. Pinned Nyan
- smaller and only plays the music when pressed

- bigger, comes with timer and plays music automatically

i prefer the smaller one as it takes up less space, and definitely less annoying everytime i swipped down the notification center... not sure if it's still there anymore, as i couldn't find it anymore in the repo today~ if you do find it, you could actually install both versions together, as shown in my screenshot above :"D

got the album shipped all the way from korea... the album physical size is much larger compared to the usual (about the size of 4 normal cds put together) and although it isn't the sold-out limited edition, it does have a photobook like lyrics page included

it has been a long wait since the last iOS update for my iphone... finally another post in this long forsaken blog~

let's jump straight into the subject

prerequisite:
1) updated itunes (v10.5.2.11)
2) iOS5.0.1 firmware (9A405)
3) A4 based devices (not for iphone 4S and iPad2)
4) redsnow (0.9.10b3)

moving from 4.3.1
the steps are pretty simple, but it did took me some time to get this done
1. backup phone for one last time
2. power off your device and disconnect from computer
3. put device in recovery mode (with cable and itunes logo)
* while pressing home button, connect device to computer
4. open itunes, recovery mode will be detected but do proceed to check for updates
5. shift+click on recover button and locate the downloaded firmware ipsw file
6. wait for installation to complete
7. iOS will be updated to 5.0.1
8. complete the setup on the device
9. restore phone from latest available backup

jailbreakin'
1. run redsn0w as admin
2. click on "jailbreak" button
3. follow onscreen instruction to place device into DFU mode
4. once prompted, check "install cydia" option
5. redsnow will run and complete the jailbreak

post jailbreak (optional)

#note: i did encountered a few glitches during the upgrade, which had caused some delays and frustrations... here's some sharing in case you get into the same problem

error 3194
- make sure your firmware file version is correct and not corrupted
- check windows hosts file is not diverting gs.apple.com
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
- download tinyumbrella and uncheck the option "Hosts point to Cydia on exit box"

error 1600 (during iOS upgrade)
- make sure the device is in normal recovery mode (not DFU) during upgrade

other errors
- make sure itunes is upgraded to the newest version
- try reconnecting the device to pc and restart upgrade process
- if still fails, try upgrading from another computer

installed apps not synchronizing automatically
1. install installous
2. connect device to computer
3. drag the apps icon from library to devices

i'm relatively new to iOS5, so it'll take some time to browse and test out the new features... the notification center looks very promising though~ but when i'm through with it, i might be posting some rants and complaints if i have the time~

last but not least, "happy new year 2012!" to all, including myself :D

another iOS upgrade - 4.3.1

another boring day @ home... with some anticipation, i have finally decided to upgrade the phone iOS to v4.3.1 - seems like this is what i would only blog about in recent days... but still better than nothing

this time, i took a different approach of jailbreaking the system... instead of greenpois0n, which might not be out for v3.2.1 - snowbreeze 2.5.1 did the job today~not to much of a difference, either way works for me

snowbreeze pre-steps to upgrade to v4.3.1
1. upgrade itunes (v10.2.1)
2. download the required OS ipsw from here
* locate for iPhone4: iPhone3,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw
3. download snowbreeze 2.5.1 from here

creating a custom iOS v4.3.1 ipsw
1. launch snowbreeze 2.5.1
2. click on the (next) arrow button to proceed
3. click browse and locate iPhone3,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw
4. once verified, click on the (next) arrow button to proceed
5. click expert mode when prompted
6. double click general and check/uncheck required options
7. ignore the next screen prompting for cydia apps
8. select "Build IPSW" and click on the (next) arrow button to proceed
9. once build is complete, we may proceed with the next jailbreaking steps

loading custom iOS v4.3.1 ipsw
1. connect the iphone to the computer
2. Click on the start button to put phone into dfu mode
3. Once in dfu mode, switch to iTunes
4. When rompted to verify phone with server, click OK
5. Verification will fail, Shift+Click on the Restore button to proceed
6. locate and select the downloaded ipsw
7. upgrade is now in progress, wait for completion
* in case of any problems, enter dfu mode again to retry... timing is essential to enter the right dfu mode~ also, try reconnecting the usb cable to the phone if problem persists

well, that's all for the jailbreak process - it'll take some time if you're restoring the phone from backup, otherwise select to reload and a new phone and lose all previous app/settings...

ugly fonts in firefox4

here's another troubleshooting session, updated for my personal convenience~

newly upgraded to firefox4 today and while the browsing experience was something fresh, i couldn't help but be disgusted with the appearance of the fonts... it's all jaggy and perhaps jz - ugly~

a quick googling session solved the prob, yahoo! ..and here's how to fix it:

1. launch firefox browser
2. go to the address bar and type about:config
3. Ctrl+F abd search gfx.direct2d.disabled
4. double-click on it, confirm that the property is now set to True

problem should be fixed, if required restart the browser :)

it's a holiday today... coincidentally, some free time to upgrade my iOS (finally)~ am happily using v4.1 but jz feeling a lil' adventurous today ヾ｜￣ー￣｜ﾉ

if you've read my previous iOS upgrade post, there are some changes this time... similar but not entirely the same

steps to upgrade from v4.1 to v4.2.1
1. upgrade itunes, older itunes might not work with iOS4.2.1
2. download the required OS ipsw from here
* locate for iPhone4: iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw
3. add a line to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\host and save
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
4. open itunes, on the iphone configuration page hold shift + click restore
5. locate and select the downloaded ipsw
6. restore is now in progress
* halfway through, you will get an issue when itunes tries to verify the firmware - phone now goes into dfu mode and itunes fails to proceed with anything else - no worries, that's expected! proceed with the jailbreak process with the iphone still connected

v4.2.1 jailbreak process
1. connect phone to pc
2. download greenpois0n
3. unzip downloaded file contents and run
4. follow onscreen instructions
5. phone will reboot once completed
* it might appears to be hung/frozen, just let the app complete and reboots on its own
6. there should be a "launcher" app, run the it to install cydia
7. install all your favourite cydia apps! below are my selections:

it's still january and yet another post on my iphone~ had my first experience of a dysfunctional iphone a couple of days ago~ thankfully, i had manage to get it running once again - hallelujah!

how the hell did it happened??? i was "innocently" going through some google based instructions to change the sms tone and *poof!* iphone crashed.. the phone respring-ed/rebooted and but something tells me it's not alright~ how true, all default icons were missing! not hidden but really m.i.s.s.i.n.g.

so now what? i couldn't make calls, couldn't send sms and almost everything else, except to launch some games and applications downloaded before it crashed - it's now a bloody ipod, damn! no worries i thought, i'll jz restore it - sounds easy but it was kinda tricky for someone who haven't done it before on a jailbroken iphone, took me a few panic attempts to get it right (finally)~

steps to restore a jailbroken iphone
1. download the required OS ipsw from here
* do note that apple no longer accepts certain old version of the OS
2. add a line to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\host
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
* this is where the SSH blobs comes into the picture... if you have noticed it before on cydia's main page then that are the few OS you could fake it to sign
3. open itunes, on the iphone configuration page hold shift + click restore.
4. locate and select the downloaded ipsw
5. restore is now in progress
* i did have some problem installing the firmware near the end of the restore process, but it came out fine after undoing step 2... not sure if i'm doing something wrong here

hurrah!!! the phone is now up and running - but jailbreak effect has been reversed... furthermore, the os was upgraded from 4.0.2 > 4.1 as well... jailbreak is required again, and here's how to jailbreak apple OS 4.1

1. connect phone to pc
2. download greenpois0n
3. unzip zip file contents and run
4. follow onscreen instructions
5. phone will reboot once completed
6. there should be a "launcher" app, run the it to install cydia
7. install all your favourite cydia apps!

this particular message caught me by surprise early this morning... and as cheapskate usual, went to look for some "solutions" from google... only after piecing the info from various sources, i manage to get it working again...

here's how -->

1. download latest version of FolderEnhancer .deb file from here
* no point proceeding if file no longer exists, look for other sources
2. in Cydia, go to Manage > Packages > FolderEnhancer > Modify > Remove
3. launch any tool to access the root of the iphone (in my case: iphone explorer)
4. browse to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/
5. delete file jp.ashikase.folderenhancer.plist
6. put the .deb into the /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall/
* create the folder(s) if it does not already exists
7. Reboot your iPhone
8. Launch Cydia, Reboot iPhone again
* repeat step 8 if the app is listed in Cydia but not working

goodbye 2010, hello 2011! new year, new resolutions... 2010 was quite pleasant year for me - new position @ work, made new friends, visited new places and bought new gadgets - the only regret was that i've gained back the few kgs i lost last year~

for the next year, will hope to do things i wouldn't normally do and visit even more places outside of the boleh-land~ wishing everyone out there good luck with their 2011 resolutions as well!

day1: bored @ home - nothing to do, nowhere to go... smart-ass me then decided drop by ikea and the nearby citibank branch - papago gps on iPhone was pretty unreliable on the highways but managed to reach citibank anyway, only to quit - parking was a put-off... continued with mcD lunch and ikea shopping after that... got a magnetic holder for rm10

it's the second day of my week long holiday and i'm still ain't quite sure what to do with it~ too broke to do anything anyhow (＞人＜;) did some housekeeping on the figurine boxes - seeing them reminded me on the $$$ spent - heartbroken indeed

hopefully the 3 remaining days will be more productive and worthwhile, still a ??? on what to do actualy - SIGH!

bad lucks strikes back... it has returned...

yup, it's yet another boot error 0... scared the hell out of me, the hard disk was like, brand new! with some troubleshooting, it turns out to be the power supply this time~ couldn't run 3 hard disks at a time, tried 2 and it worked! problem solved, only temporarily though - the system then creepily reboots itself from time to time and in a few days, got the same ol' error again, sigh... sigh... sigh...

got a 500W power supply box @lowyat today... system seems alright now, jz hope it'll stay that way for some time, haven't got that much $$$ for another fix ..pokai deee ☆⌒(＞。≪)

psp & miku hachune

bored of the usual theme for your psp? at least, i was... and even though there was loads of tutorial out there, most of them weren't quite useful, ended up with many broken links, wrong plugin version and etc. alas, here i've compiled something that finally works

here's a lengthy but fairly simple tutorial to get started with

* notes:
- to be specific, this is only for cxmb for 5.50 gen-b, it might work with other versions (maybe)
- the tutorial goes through the lite installation which only enables usage of ctf themes
- to re-enable the usual ptf themes, disable the cxmb plugin
- follow the tutorial at your own risk (although completely safe, i will not be held liable if anything happens to your psp)

1) download 27300_CXMB5.50.zip via link
2) extract contents of zip file

3) connect psp to the computer (usb)

4) in the root, create a cxmb folder
5) put cxmb.prx, conf.txt into the cxmb folder

6) in the root, create a seplugins folder
7) in the seplugins folder, create a vsh.txt text file
8) open vsh.txt and add the following line: ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx
9) save and close vsh.txt

10) exit usb mode and disconnect the psps from the computer

11) power off the psp
12) hold on the R button and power on the psp

13) in the recovery menu, go to Plugins ->
14) make sure cxmb.prx [VSH] is enabled, if not just highlight and press to enable
15) highlight and click on Back
16) highlight and click on Exit

that's it for the plugin - now it's time to get some ctf themes to test it out~ a good place to start with is Themes for PSP site

* to enable the new downloaded themes

17) connect psp to the computer (usb)
18) paste the ctf files into PSP\THEME folder
19) exit usb mode and disconnect the psp from the computer

20) via PSP menu, go to the briefcase icon and select Theme Settings > Theme
21) choose the new theme and apply

the system will restart and if everything goes right, your new theme will appear successfully~ have fun experimenting some of the new themes!

had some really bad experiences with the "file compression" option in windows... whenever my pc's gigabytes were almost up, somehow this option gets enabled unconsciously and guess what? - some of my video files (yup, only video files) goes corrupted and not recoverable~

it didn't help either when you decompress them back - try that done that...

to prevent my subconscious doing such evil things again, here's something i got from the net to disable this option once and all:

disclaimer - only works for win7

1. open registry (regedit)
2. go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisableCompression

*if it doesn’t exist, right-click on FileSystem and select New > DWORD Value
3. set the value data to 1
4. restart the computer (important!)
5. forget all the steps above to prevent myself reversing the effect!

How to Open New Tab At the End of Tab Bar After All Existing Tabs

1. type about:config into Location bar.
2. click on "I’ll be careful, I promise!" button.
3. in the filter text box, enter the following:

browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent

4. change its value to false
5. close the tab

jz dropping by to put a lil' bits and pieces of my thoughts... and yes, i'm still alive~ but haven been exactly "happy" lately~ hardly have time to live the so called moment.. was on leave last week -spent it completing chores and to-dos, killing time as CNY lurks around the corner

without realizing, time passes rather quickly, with a blink of an eye this page was abandoned for half a year... wow! if only i blinked a little faster, i'll be blogging this from old folks home (if i could live that long, that is)... some good news, i've overcame my addiction to facebook, bad news was i lost some virtual friends without gaining any real ones ( ┰_┰ )

tioman island getaway

had a weekend getaway last week with my bunch of colleagues~ to tioman we head - 11 people in 3 cars, including my mini kancil and other 2 myvis - the drive was a total madness; the road, the speed, the fog and the distance jz didn't make sense .. thank goodness i made it through the drive, i could have easily dozed off if not for the company in the car

we first had to stop by mersing jetty, johor for the speedboat to the island... tooks us 4½ hours reaching here from kl~ could've been faster but kancil ain't a good runner afterall ε-(´・｀)

after some delay, we're on the boat - with no rest after work and a tiring journey, one could only hope for some rest - but NO... there was this hell of a boy of screamed out his lungs crying to be released to shore, and lucky me, i was jz two rows away - it was a nightmare... things however came calm thankfully, and i managed to catch some sleep

and tioman came to us...

beautiful... calming... and undeniably a good place for a holiday... never had i seen water so clear~ maybe that's because i've only been to the sickneningly polluted port dickson beaches... i should travel more often - some did mentioned that redang was better, hmmm....

we've checked in later, into a chalet-type resort by the name of idaman... not the best around, but definitely cheap and it really had that getaway-ish feel~ having enuff of kl, this was almost paradise to start with~

... off we go on a speedboat an hour after checking in... by boat we went past some other resorts, which is 10, maybe 20× more modern than the ones we chose... the grass is always greener on the other end, for this case the water's kinda more bluish in colour (in fact it was)~ went to the town, stopped by the duty-free shop and had a can of budweiser - should've grab some liquor here, cheap and kastam-less in mersing! regret, regret! ☆⌒(＞。≪)

went snorkeling some minutes later, illegally... the pakcik took us to marine park by sea, dropped us skipping the need to pay a rm5 entry fee... we suspected something fishy here, but indeed there's fishes~ wasted some time chasing the one two fishes, only to realise an incredible lot of fishes near a feeding area - and it was dead obvious, that's where all the people were ( -_-)"

switched locations, more snorkling at a nearby coral reef... blind as a bat, without my glasses the coral does appear to be pretty... next time i'll try contacts! zettai! ended the day with bruises and some very blurry memories, aha~ (O_O；)

had some sleep and food/dinner was served... the later night was filled with teambuilding activities... what i would usually preceived as lame somehow was actually fun this time~ dozing off - i slept til wee early next morning

morning here at the chalet area was kinda disappointing - no bikini babes and more importantly, no sunrise to be spotted anywhere along the beach (;´ρ`) as i suspect it, the beach was actually facing direct north while the east and west of it was entirely blocked by some hutan, anyway - i still had a fun time snapping photos with the soothing sea breeze along the "powdery" beach

before i forget, the trip also did introduced us the locals. there was the pakcik who took us snorkling and a boy we called "mamat" - cute but pesky... talking about pesky, the cats here had a "thing" for me... they were following me everywhere but alas, it wasn't only me...

had more japanese snacks during my absence~ got 'em while wandering around isetan, klcc~ isetan was having some food fair with all sorts of weird and famous/infamous snacks... meiji chocolotes were abundant and i got the dark chocolate bar but it's still in the fridge untouched

what really caught my attention was the shiki sakuma drops 「式サクマドロップス」.. a nostalgic treat, for many reasons~ tears almost rolled from my eyes when i saw it on sale - how sad, poor setsuko-chan~ (´□｀。) back to the product, it's actually sweets of various flavours, mostly fruits like orange, lime, berries and etc... one exception though, there is chocolate flavour too~

verdict: rich in taste and very sweet... didn't really liked the chocolate one, tasted like some milo rip off~ will notice straight away if it's being swapped with stones~

had a trip to a local clinic this early morning... unpleasant but an interesting session~ got in the clinic at 7:40am, people have already filled the hall~ i took a seat and waited for my turn... i was #003 but the counter wasn't even turn on yet that time... fine.

as i continue waiting, more people started to drop by~ most of them were factory workers, as identified by their uniform- different companies though~ oddly enuff, everytime someone enters the room, the rest seems to jz know that person~ best buddies it seems! ＼（＾∀＾）メ（＾∀＾）ノ couldn't help but eavesdropped on their conversation only to find that they're actually "seasonal customers", no wonder! nvm them, i continued waiting~

8:30am - my turn came, and was done in less than 5 minutes: diagnosed as tonsilitis... next step is to wait again, this time for the medicine at the dispensary~ while waiting and waiting some more, other were doing the same as well... pity those who are "really" sick, they could have jz collapse and died on the floor while waiting for their turn... with 2 doctors and 5 nurses, service is pretty bad...

got my medicine around 9am and off i go

back home, here are the medicine i've got; antibiotic, lozenges, phlem pills and gargle water... loved the cashless medical card by ING though~ p(*＾-＾*)q

have known this manga title for quite some time already, but only started with the live-action version, a couple of weeks ago... was a little stressed out to blog about anything lately, and guess that explains the delay of this review~ ( ･ｪ･)

the story tells about kenji, currently a struggling konbini owner... along came a mysterious cult with has everything to do with kenji's past; ranging from its cult emblem to the group's ingenious plan to wipe out the human race... with some help from his childhood friends, the protagonist heads out in search of the truth, but what awaits might be just child's play, a deadly one... (O_O；)

the movie splits itself into a few time periods... the current, flashback during kenji's childhood and the near future~ the casts were pretty okay and although the story wasn't much believable as it could be, it still provides much suspense and entertainment value to the audience

21st century boys? that's actually the final two volume of the manga... weird as it may seems, that's where the conclusion will be~ the manga took 8 years for the completion, and it took me 1 days+ to complete the whole series (24 volumes in total), could have completed it sooner but it was dragged on due to work and etc...

reading the manga reveals much more compared to the live-action, which ended around volume 5-6... and the rest of the story lies in the future and further, in the third year of tomodachi's era, kanna joined in as the few main characters to battle the supreme tomodachi

as with the first parts of the manga, more mysteries were finally uncovered but then twist of events just happens once too often, complicating the whole story~ as for me, i was pretty much hooked up til the end of it, but do find it ridiculous and quite unbearable at times and of course, the ending of rather unsatisfying （￣～￣;）

white day was yesterday... instead of being all lovey dovey and mushy mushy, it's all about dark and gloomy for 'ronely' me... as i didn't received any gifts exactly a month ago, i dun think i actually have any rights celebrating this (　*＾ω＾)

as the packaging claims, here's something on japanese "gourmet food"; hokkaido blueberry & cornchocolate... got it from isetan also, while browsing at the near-expiry isle

wasn't really sure what got into me when purchasing this, but thankfully it tasted quite alright~ it's hard to describe it, as it feels like a lump of riceball with chocolate coating that has a bubblegum flavour to it （￣～￣）

contradicting myself as always~ here's another purchase... my wallet keeps getting thinnger all the time~

fraulein nagato comes with a big bunch of accessories which includes a wizard cape and hat, a magic wand, neko-san and a bass guitar alongside the usuals (base and stand, alternate face, and a bunch of interchangeable hands)... haven really got the time to try out different poses, but it's already amazing with the guitar+wizardry combo, and being able to stand on its own is yet another plus point

with both this and haruhi (bunny ver.), jz another one more to go... coming mikuru next month~ hopefully will get some time to pose some pictures with all of them together (*^_^;)

the movie reunites abe hiroshi and yui natsukawa, both great actors i really enjoyed watching in kekkon dekinai otoko... although the movie isn't entirely light-hearted, both of them still managed a realistic and believable roles... on the other hand, kiki kirin (tokyo tower, mom and me and sometimes dad) potrays powerful acting through the sinistery mom, whom still griefing within for the lost of her dear son.... other casts did a pretty good job as well, maintaining a very real-life atmosphere throughout the movie

clean, crisp and beautiful shots aplenty...

the story line is pretty straightforwardly flat, there aren't any climax to it but this movie is still prooves to be quite a good watch~ ~ its attention to the littlest detail is jz amazing and revelation towards the director's view on life is nonetheless captivating; "life really does goes on..." ☆彡

here's a fun and wicked way of devouring a coconut~ （｀ー´）

1. buy a ready packed coconut, get the one with the top sliced open, covered with the soft inner flesh of the fruit~

2. take a straw and start drilling some holes, drink the water as it seeps out

3. once you can drill no more, take a spoon and carefully slice the top membrane out, in a ciclar motion around the opening

4. you can eat the top part, drink some of the water if it gets to dry to chew~ next, still with the spoon, slowly slide it in through the opening scraping the flash to the bottom of the coconut~ slowly and steadily, go around the coconut until the whole flesh thingy is out~

there you have it, nice and sweeet... good for a photo snappping session~ me had a really hard time finishing the whole thing, especially went i ran out of the coconut water... it tasted jz as good as chewing rubber ヾ(-_-;)

was bullishly working from cny day1 up til 1st of february, too tired to even visit this site anymore~ phew, but it was all worth it though, claims and allowances will soon be filling up my pocket - perhaps, i might get another figurine to compensate myself psychologically Ｏ(≧∇≦)Ｏ

ouch....

did more room cleaning today in prepartion for the chinese new year, jz two more days!!! (*≧▽≦) today the focus was my pc/work desk~ the ones with figurines all over it, it's really crowded and i wasn't a bit wrong about it~

since i had the whole day for it, it decided that this was going to be 'the makeover'... did some tiny bits of carpentry work, started by removing the dividers at the top shelf~ was dumb to think it connects entirely with glue at first - after monkeying around a while, i came to my sense and realised some huge stapler going in from the back of the shelf~ took me and my sis some effort to get it all out, in the end the top shelf finally became one~ (^-^*)

also removed the desk lamp portion, giving it a more spacious look in the mid section... was crazy enuff to try sawing the wooden joints off using a penknife, in the end a hammer and a screwdriver did the trick, brute force still rules when it comes to woodworks

it finally arrived...

this my first time dealing with yesasia, and it turned out not-so-good... the order was made from early december, opted for a free shipping service (cheapskate me, i know) - and after half a month, still no news... when contacted via the survey form system, was told the following, "it's the festive system and parcels normally gets delayed"... f.i.n.e. （￣～￣）

another half a month later, guess the order was "colder than water" - decided to revert back to yesasia... using the survey system, replies were often delayed at least 1 day, and so after rounds of reply and confirmations, they agreed to resend the order~ i changed the shipment to the express one (couldn't bare waiting another 14 days), which cost me US$8 - guess what? the parcel received one day after shipment... (O_O；)

actually, i dun really blame yesasia for the delay, the thing most likely jz went missing in the post... the helpdesk was kinda helpful, slow but helpful... waiting a day for every reply for tons of questions thru and fro seems very time wasting for me~ eventually, i did get my stuff after almost 2 months, no loss... next time, will certainly opt for the express delivery after this lesson learnt!

chinese new year is jz around the corner... the last two days were spent mostly on shopping, especially new apparels~ did get myself a bunch of stuffs and that really did some great damage to my wallet and bank account...

first off, got some new year clothings, 50-70% discounts everywhere... and yesterday, finally gotten myself the ice-cream phone (KF-350) by lg ヾ(＾∇＾)~ was hoping to get my hands on this since spotted it on some blog sometime ago...

totally agree that this phone is kinda feminine but nevertheless it's kinda cute and stylish also - got it mainly for the design rather than functionality... since trying it out yesterday, noticed it's a really noisy phone as well (by default) ~

got it at rm760 @ lowyat plaza with a 1GB microSD card, it functions pretty much a basic phone (gsm, gprs/edge, sms, mms, email), without 3g or touch screen but does have a impressive 3mp camera for snapping photos or video, no auto focus though.. an external LED display if you prefer something fancy, along with the full mp3 playback functionality and a built-in fm radio.. it's a speedy phone as well, no lags so far

got this along with eva-00 from hobbysearch when it was restocked, but the later did not manage through - out of stock~ this is bad, when cumulative order actually brings down the shipping price per unit quite a bit... anyways, i've learnt this through the hefty way and will always remember to mark the "notify me" option for future purchases... it's now officially a tradition, me watching kouhaku every new year~ never mind the delayed telecast, my trustworthy torrent will remain a loyal friend... it however took me some effort to even find time watching the 4 hour long musical... nevertheless it's worth the trouble

this year's kouhaku is hosted yet again by yukie nakama and masahiro nakai as per the 57th... the stars are quite the usual bunch, with some new entries such as ikimono gakari, thelma aoyama, girl next door and surprisingly mr. children...

the shows starts with ayumi's performance follow by a string of others, all pretty entertaining... maybe it's just me but i think there is actually less "really veteran" singers this year~ some of the acts were almost a cheat, with me seeing the same thing 3 years in a row! obvious ones are masafumi akikawa (sen no kaze ni natte) and kennichi mikawa (sasoriza no onna) ヾ(‘ロ‘)

otsuka ai's performance this year was pretty much so-so, in my opinion... was nothing too much to shout about... ikimono gakari on the other end was almost the same, performing the debut single "sakura", would have luv to see the more current "kimagure romatic" instead~ on the bright side, mr children debut was quite nice, sad thing was they weren't performing on the nhk hall though

overall this year's kouhaku was pretty okay, worth the watch! and as usual, here's a collage of the 4 hour 25 minutes show:

christmas is over, new year is over, here comes the chinese new year! as usual, i will be working on both cny days to earn some angpow money~ as it was already decided, i instead took off for one week before the new year to do my some shopping and chores... ヾ(＾∇＾)

first off, some shopping... was planning to get a new handphone, but plan failed - no stock~ to add salt to my wounds, the seller really pissed my off me by offering something pinkish- hell, no! anyway, this was really exagerated, it was actually jz something like, "ermm.... not interested".

next stop, headed on to bukit tinggi jusco and did some food shopping there~, did noticed it was a lil' pricer compared to jusco midvalley; a pack of soy sauce is double the price!... the sushi and bento choices is less too but slightly different... （￣～￣;）

here's what i ate for lunch (shared meal):

out of curiosity, i got this bottle of drink, 「ラムネ」 while shopping in midvalley some two weeks ago... first known about this when reading an article at dannychoo.com, and was always wanting to take a sip~

bought the drink at shojikiya along with a bottle of premium calpis, but with no less of regrets~ was overcharged when paying for it, didn't realised it until my sis calculated from the bill~ if i had knew better, should have gotten it from jaya jusco along with my bentos and sushi... therefore, heed my warning: always be careful of sly and mischievious cashier-san when shopping at shojikiya! wouldn't want any fellow otakus falling to their dirty tactics （￣へ￣）

sad stories aside, here's how you open the drink:

1) read the instructions... or in my case, study the diagrams

2) proceed to pop off the "opener" from the cap

3) place the opener on the marble, and press firmly... the marble will drop with a splash~ enjoy!

it's been a few days in the new year, but everything seems very 2008 or maybe even the year before... still lazing around, watching animes whenever i feel like it - and yes, no osouji (大掃除) last year, my room is still in a mess!

couldn't believe the the holidays are really over, it felt so short but still --- sweet and memorable, especially when there's so little work to do~ things will only change from here onwards, starting with work, work and more work for me...

as for myself, i'm still sick (physically) - cough here and there, leaving trails of germs whichever earth i land on... really sux when i start coughing, it'll last for weeks - (*´Д｀)=3 prefer to be down with flu instead, snappier recovery~

last but not least, had some new year resolutions... hopefully to get them fulfilled before rewishing for next year again!

otsuka ai's avex site page had a recent revamp for the album "love letter" which is debuting tomorrow (yes, tomorrow!)... the full track listing has been confirmed, and i've somehow managed to download the full version of the missing track "ningyou" through some undisclosable source

although i've pretty much heard the whole album, still can't wait to get my copy of it~ according to japanpost, it's still dispatching from tokyo as i continue blogging...

"melty kiss" by meiji ~~ picked up these winter-only chocolates while wandering in jaya jusco, midvalley last friday~ it was quite a bargain i'd say, selling at only rm10 as to the usual rm25... dun think they're actually selling at all though, the boxes all seemed so "untouched"

had my prev encounter with meiji chocolates and they tasted like some cheapo kiddy chocolates - anyway, this time around the choc ain't too bad... it's kinda bitter and sometimes sweet and it really does melts in your mouth (jz gotta keep them off the refridgerator long enuff!) - hope doesn't resembles a real kiss though (*≧▽≦)

trip to cameron highlands (last week)

welcome to cameron highlands

had a trip to cameron highlands last week with a bunch of colleagues~ it had been quite a while since i had my last 'real' vacation, like traveling somewhere~ cameron highlands was something new to me, i guess... it was 2 decades+ since i was last here, and that was at the age of 3 or so~

bala's chalet

some shrubs hosted on the colonial-type building

headed to ipoh for some breakfast before reaching the hilltop... stayed at a placed called bala's chalet... it's the kinda english colonial-type of buildings... the breeze was cool but not the room~ it's a little wrecked and the tv is purplish in colour... snapped some picture around the chalet before moving on...

the whole day was spent moving around in the rain, eating bit and pieces of cameron - ermmm, it's actually stuff like strawberries, scones and tea; no dirt eating involved at all~ spent most time in the car going uphil, downhill then up again - wouldn't complaint about the scenery though (^～^)

scones and a teapot of boh 'ummph' tea

had dinner buffet style @ strawberry resort at night, the price was quite reasonable for the food served BUT it could be much better to have some sizzling steamboat instead, grrrrr... headed to the night market later on, and it was like strawberries here, there, everywhere! a rough 75% of the stalls were selling the bright reddish fruit; be it fresh or preserved, speaking of 'competition'! other more reasonable merchants were selling vegetables, flowers and snacks and other fruits

- one piece of advice: to get the stuff real cheap, get them when the stalls are closing... you can still negotiate after the stuff are packed in the trucks, it's like a "everything must go' bazaar!

the late night was more relaxed... a session with chivas, 'chor tai dee' and some preserved strawberries ended the day! i was snoring til' the next morning- poor roomates must have had hell trying to sleep (O_O；)

a trip to yet another tea plantation and the morning market ends the trip at cameron... headed back to ipoh for some 'tau foo fah' / beancurd custard and a box of renowned salted chicken... trip back to kl was restless although it wasn't me who did the driving... ((+_+))

the figurine was satisfactory; nicely sculpted and colouring is great, except for some parts at the hairband - mina does look cute alongside the carrots... however, gotta admit that her pose is a little odd, especially with those twisted kinda legs, but guess it's there to show a sense of being afloat

some might be guessing about the width-height ratios of the picture above - in actual fact, all shots were taken using 16:9+ aspect ratio~ somehow i preferred this to the standard 10mp format~ plus the sky is the real deal, no photoshop involved except for some simple resizing of the photos...

for the blur to happen in the background, supermacro mode was used in t-77; taken in programmable mode ／（≡・　x　・≡）＼

it's almost time for me to return to work; real work as in the one in the office~ it was a great week off from the stress of answering calls, thinking what i'll be doing tomorrow already gives me the creeps (*´ο`*)

anyway, did some room cleaning yesterday, vacumm the carpets and a new found duty, dusting some of the out-of-the-box figurines... kept me for half a day as my room seemed to attract lots and lots of dust~ while i was it, rearrange and hid some of the unused boxes too...

fall'08 anime ~ first impressions

usual me will wait for the season to be over before creeping in to watch all episodes in one go - a lil' different this time since this time i'm stucked at home, took some quality time off previewing the anime titles~

from what observed, the titles this season are very lively indeed, action packed i would say~ it's either it's monster/robot slaying or plain tsundere action (*＾▽＾)／

must watch: ga-rei zero

looks most impressive compared to other titles, gotta admit it does resembles a mesh of other animes: shakugan no shana, bleach, witch hunter robin and perhaps more~ like how the first two episodes ended, will be anticipating for more...

resting for yet another week... taking some time off to release stress accumulated from working the past two weekends~ monday itself was dedicated for me getting back enuff sleep, without doubt i snored like a pig thoughout the day ( ´(00)`)

tuesday onwards were spent more moderately with me dwelling back to my old past times- watching j-doramas... i had been quite some time since i've watch any of it, in fact i've not downloaded a single drama from last season; summer~ sad to say... (´ω｀。)

anyways, didn't have much problem catching-up from where i last left the series and now hungry for even more, pushing my torrents to the max as i blog~ the show was kinda slow paced, but this taiga epic drama still manage to keep me entertained... aoi miyazaki does a very good job as the straight forward princess

hopefully, i will get to blog more often - lots of distraction in the cyberworld lately - have been facebook-ing a lot, and like other man made addictions, it's no less hazardous~ no doubt about it as you wouldn't find any sane being hatching unnecessary monster from a spotted egg while buying friends with a fake million dollars...

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka

◎ aya hirano will be in this eroge turned anime, should be one of those harem franchise... art is more of clannad-ish but think i can lived with that~

Casshern Sins

◎ this is a remake of a old good versus scientific mutant battle manga/anime... saw only the movie version before, thought it was kinda cool but empty - the trailer for this remake is kinda cool also, hopefully not as empty

Ga-rei Zero

◎ some ghost-busting action that looks preety cool and gruesome at the same time~

Hyakko

◎ comedy that revolves around four girls... seiyu stars aya hirano

Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae

◎ hated the second season, but will continue to watch this anyways

Kannagi

◎ a could-be-harem comedy about guardian spirit who transforms into a girl and later moves in with a guy after being homeless

Kemeko Deluxe

◎ highly anticipated by other anime bloggers... could be a cute anime but something telling me it's very to loveる-ish, jz replacing battle-suit-girl with aliens

Kurogane no Linebarrels

◎ aya hirano once more, this with some mecha and super powers thingy

Kurozuka

◎ bloody and gruesome anime based off a manga... a tell tale style which time ranges a thousand of year

Nodame Cantabile Paris Chapter

◎ haven't watch the original anime yet, but loved the dorama version... will get this and watch it when i (really) have the time

got myself a new camera last week++... wasn't planning this at all but somewhere deep down in me, there's this dark aura that led me to that eventful purchase - a sony dsc-t77 or better known as skinny T

a brief summary on the long waaaait:-

24th september - heard from a colleague that there'll be a new camera selling at rm8, gotta queue for it though~ not much of a interest, queuing up overnight for a camera is crazy!

25th september - "come join us... we're gonna queue for the camera", says mr x .. my colleague even went to the extreme and scout around the proposed venue - at this time, i was kinda half hearted... ~"perhaps i can sell the camera off to fund a D-SLR", i thought

26th september - the day arrived! kiasu-ness took over me, i had my backpack to work and right after 11pm, i religiously queue up with my colleagues (only 2 though)... i could have ended up at the back of the queue but swapped places with my colleague's wife~ let me repeat, it's a swap swap thingy - she left after that... i was thankful for the swap but not for the jeers and boos! also grateful for not being stabbed to death or blasted into pieces by a shotgun when i squuezed in to join the queue

27th september - a sleepless night; psp, ergonomic stretches and crap talks couldn't make time fly any faster - waiting is such a painful thing to do... besides myself, hundred+ others made the pathway into a sleeping hall, some even dozing off til the very morning - determination rules the better of men (& women)~ it was quite an eye opening night for me, making me see the world like never before, perhaps the severe eye bags had something to do with it, haha~

through out the night was like an ultimate torture... many things happened though.. people were around anticipating the price they'll get the camera for~ many boastful talks going around about everything under the sun, a self organized "get-to-know-kiasus-around-you" session... guys and girls (some cute ones) were napping around also... there were also this fatman organizer person who walks around every so often lecturing people about the importance not to loitering around

the morning finally arrived, not short of cramp and backaches everyone were pretty anxious - i was blur but still anxious... there were some delays and dance rehearsals banging out head off but nevertheless we've survived til the paying counter... i was #139 (so i was told, i couldn't remember, seriously) and paid a handsome rm688 for the camera~ (｡･_･｡)σ

driving back was dangerous, lack of sleep could have made it one way ticket to afterworld - somehow or rather i've managed to reach home safe and sound, phew~~~ after going through hell and back, not in a million years i'll sell this camera off - dslr can wait... hehe~ so "how's the camera?", you asked...

haven't really tested the camera fully yet, but as of now i'm kinda satisfy with the buy~ the 15mm thick camera is stylish sleek and slim but still manages a 3.0" widescreen touchscreen display... the onscreen menus are easy to navigate through but the touchscreen now suffers a slight sensitivity issue after being applied a screen protector, jz a slight problem though most of the time it still works fine

picture quality is pretty impressive too - with the 10.1megapixels setup, it can output in full hd 1080... each shot taken is highly detailed, even for scenery shots... the optical steadyshot and the super macro mode help a bunch also~ indoor shots with iso3200 are okay but with strong visibility of noise

there are other nifty features bundled along the pocket size camera... one of them has to be the smile shutter which automatically snaps a pic when a degree of smile (and happiness is detected) - others includes built picture touchup utility, full hd video capture, 4x optical zoom and tv output... not that i'll used them all the time, but it's no harm knowing it's there~ jz a note: the software bundled together looks kinda cool too

1 had one obvious problem though... not being able to register the product for the warranty.. apparently there was some problem and requires me to call the helpdesk... the problem is it's hari raya and the helpdesk is closed for 5 days... now, my warranty is on the brink of being void-ed... ☆⌒(＞。≪)

*update: problem solved, called the helpdesk and registration is still valid~
